The Dream Factory grants dreams to critically and chronically ill children who are between the ages of 3 and 18. The Dream Factory has grown into the second-largest children’s wish-granting organization in the United States, granting over 25,000 dreams since its inception — all while maintaining a grassroots approach. Because of our very low overhead, we dedicate close to 90% of all funds directly to the expense of granting dreams. Our dedicated volunteers raise money in their own communities and then use the funds to grant the dreams of local children.

A child's dream could come true with just a little help from you!

Please take a moment to look at the smile of this child. This is Claire. Her dream to travel to Chicago by train and visit the American Girl Store may seem small to some, but this dream come true was a day of immeasurable happiness. Donations from individuals helped bring this smile to Claire's face. Imagine how your donation could help many other children build lasting happy memories with their families.

Sometimes the best medicine for a sick child is having a dream come true. You can make the dream a reality. We are reaching out to ask you to support The Dream Factory this year by donating to our annual fundraising campaign. Your donations make it possible to grant dreams to critically and chronically ill children. By making a dream come true, you help provide a break from the daily medical struggles in a sick child's life.

Who we are

Founded in 1980 in Hopkinsville, KY, we currently operate 37 chapters in 18 states. We are the second-largest children's wish-granting organization in the country. We are volunteer-driven and have no paid employees at the chapter level. Only four paid staff members exist at the National Headquarters in Louisville, KY. Because of this grassroots approach to fundraising, nearly 90% of all the funds raised remain in the community of origin. One of our greatest strengths is the commitment and support of our established chapters to guarantee the success of new chapters.

Unlike other wish-granting organizations, we not only grant dreams to critically ill children but also to those who are chronically sick. We strive to provide hope and relief from the trauma and corresponding stress and depression that both the children and their families can endure on a day-to-day basis. We want to bring happiness, inspiration and hope to these children and their families so they can have a little extra strength to face the difficult and emotional times ahead.

We accept applications from children who meet the organization's eligibility criteria. The only criteria are residency in a community where a chapter is located, an eligible medical condition and the child may not have previously received a dream or wish from another wish-granting organization. Besides granting dreams to children, The Dream Factory's local chapters also plan special events throughout the year which all of our dream kids attend. Some of these events include trips to sporting events and theme parks, concerts, holiday parties and other celebrations. We're able to do this because of the generosity of hundreds of donors and sponsors across the country. Sometimes the best medicine for a sick child is having both big dreams and little ones come true.
